So we made some slight changes to our privacy policy. As the Internet changes, laws change, and our site evolves and grows, we will be tweaking our privacy policy from time to time. Why are we letting you know about the changes you may ask? Because we want to keep you in the loop. It's how we roll here at Nexopia.

Have some questions? You'll probably find the answers below. Yeah, we are just that on the ball.

PRIVACY POLICY Q&A

Q: Why do you need to update the Privacy Policy?

Well, for a couple of reasons:

As the Internet matures, so does our Privacy Policy:
As you know, the Internet changes quickly. As it evolves, new government regulations, laws, systems and procedures are put in place. As the Internet changes, so must our privacy policy. We need to make sure we are current with all changes and laws.

As we evolve & grow, so does our Privacy Policy:
Nexopia is continuously looking for ways to be better, cooler, and more customized for our users. As we add new features, applications, and contests we need to make sure our users know the ins and outs of the changes. Any changes that affect our policy are updated and our users are informed. That's it.

Q: How often do you change your Privacy Policy?

Whenever needed:
As Nexopia adds new improved features and the Internet and laws continues to evolve, changes will be made to the policy from time to time. The Privacy Policy is used to better protect your privacy. We provide this Privacy Policy to explain our information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected, used and disclosed. So if any new feature, law or application is introduced that changes any of the above, the policy is changed, the changes are posted to the site, and users are notified. Simple.

Q: So what changes were made to the Privacy Policy?

Here's the low-down...three small policy updates:

Updates that reflect our new and improved email search feature:
So you asked for new search features and we listened. As you know, you can now search for a person through the user search bar if you know their email addresses -- making our user searching that much better! If you allow your username and/or email address to be searchable, the user performing the search will be able to see your profile. This is a new feature so we made sure our privacy policy was updated to reflect it. And remember, if you want to be on the down-low and you don't want your email address to be searchable, you can remove it on the Preferences page.

Updates that reflect our increased number of contests and giveaways:
We are continuously looking for new opportunities to give our users the chance to win cool prizes and cool stuff. We know how much you love free stuff. Given we plan on many new contests and giveaways down the road, the rules and procedures for each may be different. So we updated the policy to let you know that whenever there's a contest, promotion, or sweepstake, we will let you know in the contest specifics what personal information we are collecting and how it will be used in the distribution of prizes.

Updates that reflect a more customized experience on Nexopia:
Ads that appear on Nexopia.com may be sent to members and visitors by us. Nexopia.com uses personal information from your profile to make sure you see ads that are appropriate for you and that would most likely interest you.

Here's an example to explain it in a bit more detail: we use your personal information, like gender, so Nexopia guys don't have to see tampon ads pop up while you're hangin' on Nexopia and so Nexopia girls don't have to see nose-hair trimmer ads while you're hangin on Nexopia. Make sense?

We updated the Privacy Policy so you know that we use the personal information to make sure the ads that relate to you show up on your page. If the ads are there, they might as well be relevant to you.

That's all folks. If we have any more changes down the road, we will be sure to keep you posted.
